Could you explain me what you mean with “90% less radiation in standby”? The term standby is not very clear for me. Do you mean the router when no device is connected or do you mean the connected device without data transmission (idle)?

That’s an excellent question. In fact, even when the eco-wifi is in use, it emits less radiation than an ordinary router. See our full explanation at Eco-wifi: 90% less radiation in standby.

Yes, the Eco-wifi offers a programmable wifi on/off scheduling option. You can set the wifi to automatically turn off completely for example at night times.

You may override this by pushing the wifi on-/off- button. The router will resume the program as soon as it is time to execute the next rule.

The main difference between the 3 models is the wifi speed. The JRS eco-wifi 01A offers 25 Megabits per second (Mb/s), the 03 model offers 100 Mb/s, and the 05AC model offers up to 350 Mb/s.

To achieve the maximum speed that your internet subscription supports, you need to choose the eco-wifi model that is at least as fast as that. You can find out your internet speed on Speedtest.net.

The 03 and 05AC models are dual band, which means they emit on two frequencies: 2.4 and 5 Gigahertz. This allows for higher throughput speeds and for mitigating interference from neighbouring wifi routers. You may turn off one of these if you want to minimize radiation.

The 01A model’s hardwired LAN ports have a maximum speed of 100 Mb/s while the 03 and 05AC models have 1000 Mb/s ports.

Please understand that we cannot support all the different providers and modems. This is outside of our scope of influence. However remember that turning off the built-in wifi is always possible. If you don’t know how, ask your provider’s customer service to help you. Alternatively you may search for a do-it-yourself manual on the Internet by typing the provider name and the make and model of your Internet modem. Usually the built-in wifi can be turned off in the settings menu of your Internet modem, which can be reached through a web browser by typing in the correct address, an IP number.

If your Internet provider also operates a public wifi network through its Internet modems, please make sure to also turn this public wifi network off. In some cases you need to do this on a separate web page of the Internet provider with a personal login. You can check if your modem is not emitting any wifi anymore by holding your smartphone next to it and scanning for wifi networks. Make sure there is no strong wifi network on top of the list with the name of the public network.

  • Adjust the channel bandwidth to 80 MHz in the Basic -> Network settings menu.
  • Configure the router as a switch, as explained in the manual from page 6, to avoid NAT bandwidth limiting.
  • Speeds up to 300 Mbps and higher should now be achievable on the 5GHz AC network.

There are a number of important differences:

  • The Eco-wifi reduces the wifi pulse frequency down from 10 to 1 pulse per second.
  • A router guard degrades the receive sensitivity of the wifi router because it also attenuates the received signal.
  • The Eco-wifi offers a fine adjustment of the range with a 1 milliwatt step size, so you can achieve up to 95% reduction in transmit power.

Go to the address in your web browser. The browser should ask for a username and password, the login is root and the standard password is ecowifi! (with exclamation mark at the end).

If the password has been changed and you don’t remember it, you have the option of resetting the eco-wifi router and the username/password will be reset. Resetting the router is done by turning the router off, and then keeping the WPS button pressed while turning it back on. As soon as the power light starts flashing, you can release the WPS button.

This will return all router settings, including wifi network name and wifi password, to standard values.
